Juneteenth Biscuit Rag Quilt

In honor of Juneteenth, we made this amazing biscuit rag quilt with Ankara prints! For those who may not know, Ankara prints are African wax prints that come from particularly West Africa. They are known for their vibrant colors and patterns that can also have a wax film which gives the print a beautiful shine. The wax film does soften over multiple washes.

 What makes biscuit rag quilts so unique are their exposed seems that soften and crinkle with each wash mixed with the plush softness of a biscuit quilt. It is the perfect marriage of a body pillow and a weighted blanket. Each quilt is hand sewn using the softest flannel to approximately 60x45 inches, and weighs around 10 pounds.

The examples photographed have NOT been pre-washed.  A standard purchase does not include a pre-wash. The fabric itself has been cleaned, but the final product has not been washed to create the stereotypical rag fringes. 

Care Instructions: Machine wash cold with a couple of towels and dry on medium heat. We highly suggest using an industrial washer or dryers such as those found in laundromats to prevent clogging up your appliances with frayed bits from the quilt. This type of fraying is completely normal and an expected part of having a rag quilt. To protect against color bleeding, try a Shout Color Catcher in your wash. Please follow the box instructions.
